Meet The Author

Patricia Dunn-Fierstein was born and raised in Maryland, outside of Washington, D.C. Much of her education was in Catholic schools, including the Catholic University of America. In her young adult years, she experienced living in Kentucky, Germany, and Switzerland. At twenty-eight, she settled in a small lakeside home outside of Tampa, Florida where she and her husband, Carl raised their two sons.

Patricia attended the Jung Institute in Kusnacht, Switzerland in 1983 and 1984 where she was introduced to Sandplay Therapy. She was a founding member of the Florida Sandplay Therapy Association and a founding member of the Sandplay Therapy Institute. She has taught extensively in Florida and at national and international conferences.

Patricia has been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (SW-1575) in private practice in Tampa, Florida, since 1985. She is a trained EMDR therapist, and has been using this in her practice since 2003. Patricia was a Certified Sandplay Therapist-Teacher through the International Society for Sandplay Therapy from 1995 to 2019, and she continues to use this in her practice with children and adults.  She has extensive experience in the practices of mindfulness and contemplative prayer. She has had a lifelong interest in the various spiritual paths to knowing the Divine, especially Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, and poetry. She offers readings in Evolutionary Astrology, if interested.

Her publication credits include a chapter in Supervision of Sandplay Therapy (Routledge 2007) and professional articles in the Journal of Sandplay Therapy. Her creative writing has been published in Sacred Journey: The Journal of Fellowship in Prayer and The Aspen Times.

Patricia would describe herself as a humble seeker (and finder) of wisdom and grace—one who enjoys trading discoveries with others along the journey. She hopes you will read Finding Grace and share the adventure with her.
